My Friends normally I write on Politics Or #ExpandMedicaidNow or current events ! But part of the purpose of this blog is to help others out ! We in Fl currently face Hurricane ERIKA ! It may hit where I live in South Florida !

**** Update on This Blog Post in 2017 i went through Hurricane Irma also. It was tough in My apartment complex as 6 Buildings of 23 had No power for 8 days. Ages from 62 to 88 . So Please check on Your Elderly and Disabled Neighbors.

We Also became #Impact and are no longer #ExpandMedicaidNow

This Blog post is meant to help No matter What Year or What Storm Feel Free to Share it.

There are Five Categories of Hurricanes with a Cat 5 being the worst ! Two of the worst ever In my lifetime were Cat 5 Hurricanes Katrina – The worst disaster in American History and Andrew another Cat 5 ! You do not want to be near this if one comes ! Evacuate and do it fast if emergency officials tell you to ! Plus during A Storm Emergency Vehicles Do Not Respond after wind gusts reach 45 mph ! So if you are stuck you are stuck !

I personally rode out Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne while in Ocala Fl in 2004 ! And it was no picnic for us and we were 40 miles inland ! For Hurricane Frances we went 2 weeks without Ekectric ! With Hurricane Jeanne it was a week !

How did we eat and what did we eat ? Well it was alot of sandwhiches ! We ate peanut butter or bought deli meat from Publix or ate cereal or crackers.

There are a few tips I would like to pass along
1. Make Sure Your Car has A FULL TANK OF GAS
2. Make Sure YOU HAVE AVALABLE CASH ON HAND

Why because once the Power goes out Gas Pumps and ATM’s Do not work !
3. A 90 Day supply of Medicine
4. Water’ have at least 1 gallon per person per day (IF POSSIBLE) Plus have water on hand to Flush your toilet with. As sewer lift stations may not operate. You do this by filling up a bathtub. (Please Clean Bathtub Before You Do This)
5. Food – Cannned Goods such as canned tuna fish, samon , and Chicken work well. Peanut Butter, Bread, Crackers, Cookies, Dry Ceeal, Gatorade to help replenish you too. 7 to 10 Day supply.of all.

6. Ice – Make Plenty of it as Fl gets hot ! Take a 1 Gallon Water/Milk jug fill it until 3 in from top put in Freezer and in 1 day you have a block of ice . This can be placed in a cooler to keep food cold.

Now Stores may or may not be able to be open. Due to damages in them or Power. Publix Suoermarkets does have Generator systems in All Stores. So they should when able to be open after the storm. This way if needed you may be able to buy some food. But depending upon how long it takes to restock they may not have all products avalable.
Plus due to safety issues distribution centers close for employee safety and trucks can not run if einds exccced 45 MPH also. Literally nothing moves during a hurricane.

Finally please stay home during this time. Do not go out exploring as Emergency Personell may not be able to help you. And Call the Power Company when outtage occurs. Do Not go near Down Power Lines ! As they carry Live ekectric and can kill you ! Report them too !

7. Be Patient after the storm it may take awhile for power to return. As Lineman also can not work with high winds !

Final Thoughts I hope I educated you on this, But I really hope it doesn’t happen for us in Fl ! As We wait on ERIKA !

Update Erika Missed Us But Forgot To Add One more Important Point If Power Goes Out Use Flashlight Only.! DO NOT USE CANDLES AS THEY MAY CAUSE A FIRE !

My friends today I Am NOT HAPPY AT ALL !  I as an Activist am NOT PLEASED ! I am seeing and hearing some very nasty posts and tweets on Facebook and twitter over the past 2 months ! Yesterday I had it ! I was a group admin and I quit !

Why you ask ? Because I am sick of the ingighting among Presidential Candidates Clinton and Sanders Supporters ! This is out of control and has been for awhile !  Do You see Senator Sanders (I or D) VT not sure taking shots at Secratary Clinton (D) ? Or Secratary Clinton (D) taking shots ar Sen Sanders (D or I ) VT ? …….NO YOU DO NOT ! So why are We on Social Media doing this ? I mean really bernie bot Hill shill please people give me a break ! Can’t you find a more productive way to support a candidate ? Do you Not realize GOP OPERATIVES constantly study Liberals and Democrats salivating to destroy us ! Didn’t you learn anything From President Obama who fights daily – while getting constant plots to ruin him and constant hate ! He has stressed unity ! Don’t you all get it ? The more hate and division we have the harder it is in 2016 ! Really people who have good friendships are dissolving ! Over this Junk !

The group I left wanted debate ! Ok fine but posting Hateful almost GOP LIKE MEMES NOT OK ! Whether your for Bernie or Hillary ! I took a Pledge as a Hillary Clinton supporter Not to bash Democrats ! And I am not ! I respect Sen Sanders (I) VT he is forcing a good debate on issues !  If this is what he wants fine ! But don’t leave us like 1980 in 2 camps Carter or Kennedy ! A dream for Wannabee Reagan Donald Trump ! Like it was for Reagan Then !

We have too much to lose fighting like this ! Critcize yes but character assination of Candidates and Supporters NO !! Do we really Want A chance of seeing thses three Republicans ; ? President Trump , President Jeb Bush , or President Walker ? President Trumps America; racist pro rich anti worker pro money America ! President Jeb Bush ? Well as my saying goes Bush’s give You Wars and Death, Riots , Bad Economies – Homelessness and Job loss and Hurricanes Katrina and Andrew ; We will all be on Rooftops in Jeb Bush America ! And Gov Scott Walker well he is a shill for Koch inc. He admitted so in a phony radio interview !

Plus making groups and pages for profit On Facebook ? How does that help We Dems ? Are all members actual Democrats ? All that does is help you and ruin a candidate or party ! Now I am not taking shots at anyone in my groups or on my friends list on Facebook. Nor am I slamming my Twitter Followers ! But if you are doing so please disclose to your members ! I respect my friends in the online publication industry ! You do a great service and are honest ! But many are not being honest some may be actual GOP TROLLS ! Yes GOP wants Bernie Sanders as Democrstic Party nominee ! And why easy win so they think for them ! ?….But if we stop the bickering We can continue the Legacy of President Barack Obama ! Or do we want the above as President ? Losing All We gained these 8 years ? No Fair wages No #ACA No #ExpandMedicaid Now leaving myself Amy Gen Rodriquez and potentially more people uninsured in America !

I will Vote Blue in 2016 ! Will You ? I will vote or Sen Sanders of Vt ! If he is our nominee ! I will Vote For Sec Clinton if She is Our Nominee ! Will you sit home and help the GOP ? ; Or participate ? I leave you with a closing thought from ME BELOW :

My Friends I am writing this as a warning to All In America ! “Do Not Get Trumped !”  – by Billionaire Donald Trump !  The posted picture says it All ! We are a very status oriented  materialistic what have you done for me lately Nation !  We follow the famous and infamous at the drop of a hat !

But this trend with Mr Trump reminds me of a bad imitation of President Reagan – who I am no fan of ! ( *** See my blog Why I Am A Democrat for information on that on this site ).   Mr Trump is Marketing himself as another Reagan ! Yes marketing – The one thing Donald Trump does well Marketing himself as a brand – A sort of Celebrity version of McDonalds ! He is using Policy by Sound bite to play on Fear while playing Reagan as a Unifying figure !

A Unifying figure He is Not ! Far From It ! What kind of person wants to deport many families Yes Intact Families ? Who did nothing to him ? Yes they are illeagal but they should be legal so we know who is here and get taxes from them ! Plus this stops sweatshops and Under table wages ! But No Mr Trump will build A Wall and send them home ! Which is impossible and could I fear turn violent !

Plus you have a Man in Mr Trump who has gone BANKRUPT ! He goes Bankrupt leaving his investors broke snd holding the bag ! Which is empty !  See my birthplace Atlantic City New Jersey ! Donald Trump will make our Nation into A Giant Atlantic City ! Run down no jobs no hope !

On The issues well he is Pro Business so forget #FightFor15 or #Unions .#WorkerSafety ….Donald Trump will do what likes to do say :”YOUR FIRED ”  He is non commital on #ClimateChange too ! Why trust him ?

On Healthcare. He wants to stop the #ACA (ObamaCare) The Affordable Care Act ! We The Uninsured in Fl would be doomed with Mr Trump ! Our Public Hospitals will go bankrupt ! Leaving many to get sick and die ! I personally am fighting to #ExpandMedicaidNow in Fl and Nationally ! There are 1 million of us in Fl ! Myself Amy and Gen Rodriguez – who suffer now ! It would be A Human Rights Nightmare if Trump made healthcare decisions ! Just the thought of this should convince more of you to help #ExpandMedicaidNow ! Because you will join us as Uninsured too under President Trump !

So you see my friends We Cannot Afford Donald Trump as President ! He is like The Koch Brothers ! But at least Trump scares them ! But his ideas should scare us all !  He simply doesn’t get it ! And seems to take pride in it ! Trump is good for TV but not as The President of  The United States of America ! My Friends today I posted my Third Video to YouTube on #ExpandMedicaidNow #MedicaidExpansion ! I am doing this to raise awareness to this issue as it often gets ignored ! But it is too important to ignore ! People are sick and dying daily without Healthcare in America still ! This should be a National OutRage ! So I am going to Expand on my Video Titled WHAT IF ?

What If You couldn’t pay for your Medicine ? What if you couldn’t see a Doctor ? What is You went to the Hospital and Got Bills you couldn’t pay ? Well in Fl (MyState) and 19 others that refused to #ExpandMedicaidNow this is reality !

Who are these people you may ask ? Why is this happening to them ? What did they do to deserve this ? My answer nothing except be poor work hard for little pay and struggle to survive ! Many in The #MedicaidGap are working poor disabled and unable to work or homeless ! Many work 2 to 3 jobs to pay rent buy food and survive ! They are your friends neighbors co workers and Yes Fellow Church members ! Who work hard and sometimes work sick und uninsured ! Just to survive !

They are people like myself who never had healthcare in their adult lifetime ! Amy and Gen Rodriquez who I wrote about In my blog : A MOTHERS FIGHT TO #ExpandMedicaidNow ! Amy works has no healthcare and has to pay for Gen’s medical expenses too !  I can relate being a caregiver for my dad in between jobs and now disabled my dad  other family or friends most times paid for my Medicine and Doctor Visits !

They Are : WE THE UNINSURED OF FL AND AMERICA ! We work pay taxes and just need help ! Why we are sick or injured and need medical attention !

So I ask What If ?……..You Were Us ? If you had to haggle with a Hospital after visiting its ER ? Because you can’t have a Doctor to go to ? What would you do if you lost your job or were Homeless and Got Sick and couldn’t pay for YOUR HEALTHCARE ? Or Were injured and couldn’t work ? Or got a Catastropic Illness ? Or got sick Like Charlene Dill did, and could not afford to see a Doctor or even buy medicine ? As a result Charlene Dill died way too young at 32 leaving 3 kids orphans ! Because of choices of Food and Shelter for her family or save herself ! It’s a bad choice to make ! No one should have to make it in 2015 !

Many fail too see the reality we face As We The Uninsured ! There are 1 million of Us in Fl thanks to Gov Scott and his poor Leadership and Lack of Compassion for anyone but the Weathy like him ! Medicaid Expansion will save lives ! The purpose of Medicaid is to be A Safety Net ! Not a Handout but a way of providing dignity to the poor ! So I ask will you help #ExpandMedicaidNow or continue letting WE THE UNINSURED potentially die and play WHAT IF ?

Because IT could be You ! I hope you will see things like President Kennedy who I pictured here did ! He said :Why Not ” and we Put A Man on The Moon ! He said WHAT iF too ! Because he championed the Uninsured ! So I ask WHAT IF ? …..It Was You who was Uninsured ? What Would You Do ? Would You like it ? Would Would You Get It ? I hope you do ! My Friends I posted this meme I made a while back as a reminder of who it is in Fl standing in the way of All The Good People in Fl having Healthcare ! The man in the picture is Fl Gov Rick Scott (R) ! A man who not only denies #ClimateChange is real ! By saying :”I Am Not A Scientist ! ” but health care and dignity to the Poor in his state. A state I reside in ! And used to be proud to say to all I live in ! A state denying myself and 1 Million in Fl a chance at life by #ExpandMedicaidNow !

Florida is the Sunshine State A Tourist mecca ! A retirement destination ! But with Governor Scott there has been no Sunshine only darkness for the working Poor in Fl ! A man who himself came from humble means but has such a cold view of others ! He has aleays had a shady edge to him accused of Swindling The Federal Government out of Medicaid Medicare dollars while CEO of HCA Columbia Hospital Chain ! Gov Scott Pleaded the 5th Ammenment ! ……..and walked away a Billionaire ! Took that money ran for Governor of Fl and is systematically destroying it !

We had disasters in Fl hurricanes for example ! But how Gov Scott manages our state may be the worse one yet ! He does not lead like a Politician but a sterile corporate raider ! He manages our state instead of Leading it ! Not just with #ClimateChange but with #StandYourGround too ! No leadership after the deaths of Trayvan Martin and Jordan Davis ! Just hollow lip service !

Which is how he treats myself Amy and Gen Rodriquez and WE THE UNINSURED OF FL is a real disgrace !  He was against #MedicaidExpansion then for now against it ! Lip service that those of us who are sick of being sick don’t need ! We want action not words ! But No Gov Scott you let Charlene Dill die leaving 3 kids Orphans ! A very cruel heartless thing to do ! You went to Disney World to hobnob with your GOP friends when Leadership was needed on #ExpandMedicaidNow ! You let Speaker Crissifulli (R) kill it ! Thus potentially killing more uninsured ! Why ? Why use us as pawns ? We are human beings ! If you do not like President Obama tell him do not take it out on the people You are sworn to Protect ! Or do you ignore your OATH OF OFFICE too Governor like you ignore WE THE UNINSURED OF FL ! If Florida was a business it would be sued for neglect ! Because it neglects its most vulnerable citizens ! That is why Gov Scott is a disaster ! He has no empathy for anyone except the almighty dollar ! And as a result of his slash and burn mentality WE THE UNINSURED IN FL continue getting burned ! By a heartless profiteer ! And I am being charitable in my description Gov ! Many think worse than this of You and Your Leadership of Florida ! Or Shall I say Misleadership !

No More Treyvan Martin’s , No More Jordan Davis’s , and No More Charlene Dill’s Please Florida ! Get out of the dark and get some Sun in the Light ! Its called Leadership something the man pictured obvoiusly doesn’t have or care to have ! Or as I said in a Blog Is Anyine Running Fl with a conscience ? Sad to say – NOT ! But it must get better for We The Uninsured in Fl ! This is not working so in 2016 lets change things #SaveLives #CloseTheGap and #ExpandMedicaidNow !

My Friends I have written and posted before about How Martin Luthur King Jr. Is one of my Heroes and The Inspiration of my Activism ! But in the meme above he is 100% Right !

We are too Soft and Silent in America sometimes ! We get “Too Comfortable” living our lives not noticing what is happening around us ! We should leave our bubble we live in before it bursts on us ! And We get a Rude Awakening ! That is where the silence comes into play !

How many really got upset enough to Demand Real Change when #MikeBrown #EricGarner #FreddieGray …,.and Now #SandraBland happened ?  That could. Actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ? Not Enough or #SandraBland Wouldn’t have happened !

I am Not talking about the real Civil Rights Heroes of 2015 #BlackLivesMatter but those who are elected officials who sit on their hands and Do nothing ! And Those of you who say :” What A shame or cry Justice ! ” ……. Yet You Do Not Even Vote much less call e mail or write elected officials to show your disgust !

This Problem applies Not Just to #CivilRights but #ExpandMedicaidNow too ! How many actually care over 1 Million People in Fl have No Healthcare ! And in 17 other states too ! How many cared when 32 Year Old Single Mom of 3 Charlene Dill died on a person’s porch of a Heart Attack because she was uninsured ! Leaving 3 kids orphans ! Or about Amy Rodriquez and Gen Rodriguez who are Uninsured in Fl like me !

Dr King was speaking to those who can do something ! By doing nothing your Enemies win against the forces of Good for Society ! Dr King if Alive would have fought for myself Amy and Gen Rodriguez and the 1 million uninsured in Fl ! To him it was about dignity of the Less Fortunate ! He Championed Universal Healthcare !

Dr King’s Dream was about Unity, Dignity and Love ! He wanted all to uplift those who are down !  Your Silence is endorsing those who wish to keep others down !  Like For those who #FightFor15 a decent wage is a must too ! But still Silence on that too !

We are our brother and sisters keeper ! You can deny it with your silence and inaction – which is silence too ! Or you can listen to the wise words of Dr King Above and Do Something ! Because in the end #WeAllMattter ! #WeAreAllInThisTogether ! The choice is yours listen to the wise and Act ! For #MLK #MikeBrown #SsndraBland Myself Amy and Gen Rodriquez ! We face #ClimateChange deniers who will leave us with bad air and water and polluted soil ! Many struggle in low wage jobs and #FightFor15 ! But change came there too as marches were held and rallies outside the Fast Food and Big Box retailers ! Another agent of Good and Change !

And yes Rumor has it my State Fl may do A Ballot Initiative to #ExpandMedicaidNow helping myself Amy and Gen Rodriquez and 1 Million Fl residents.to have Healthcare ! And if it happens We need you All to be involved ! Many will try to smear and misinform ! But We must can will and shall be ready ! With Truth and Facts !

You see If I personally didn’t get involved I would be in a worse mess ! Because If I didn’t get involoved I would be condoning the denial of Medicaid to those who need it besides me  !  Sometimes You Can’t Wait For Others To Fight For You ! You Must Do It Yourself !  That is what I did I started it was  just me and a petition soon doors opened up ! And today I am writing this blog ! But I cared I didn’t want others to suffer like I did ! So We ZThe Unisured Of Fl next Year need You To Get Out And Vote ! If this becomes a Ballot Initiative !
