My Friends today I am going to discuss how #RaiseTheWage. Affects #ExpandMedicaidNow ! Both of these issues impact the lives of Working Americans. You see without A Livable wage of $15.00 many can not afford to buy Healthcare Under The ACA. So they become dependant on Public Asssistance in the Form of Medicaid Expansion.

But what if you are sick and need Healthcare ? What do you do then ? Well if you are lucky enough to live in a state that Expanded Medicaid You are ok ! But if not you will be in trouble. If  you are under employed you fall into this category ! Many people who work PART TIME do not qualify for ACA subsidies so they are automatically kicked into Medicaid ! Due to having too Low of an income to qualify.! Therefore the Safety Net with #ExpandMedicaidNow is Vital !

For example my Friend Amy Rodriquez works Part Time as A Social Worker. She is 42 years old and Uninsured ! Thus because of her Part Time Status she is only eligible for Medicaid ! And our State Florida refuses to #ExpandMedicaidNow. ! Thus leaving Amy and 1 Million others in Healthcare Limbo !

But there are two ways out for the Working Poor ! The First is to #RaiseTheWageto15 so people are off public assistance. This enables people to buy Health Insurance from the ACA HEALTH EXTANGES MARKETPLACE. This can also frre up more funds to #ExpandMedicaidNow for the disabled and Unemployed ! Thus countering the argument that too many are in the system and We can not afford to #ExpandMedicaidNow.  When in reality the money is there and We can #ExpandMedicaidNow !

The second is to #ExpandMedicaidNow to All Part Time Workers. So at least they have healthcare ! Plus #RaiseztheWageTo$15 ! A combination of both of these measures is the best ticket out of poverty for the working poor ! Many who go wthout Healthcare !

And when you go without Healthcare you join the ranks of the unssen victims. Hard workers like Charlene Dill who had she been paid a Livable Wage or #ExpandMedicaidNow happened .She would be alive today !

So There is a Desperate need for both of these issues to happen ! And happen soon ! As many struggle to afford Food and A place to Live ! Healthcare is a Luxury to them. So by #RaiseTheWageto$15 and #ExpandMedicaidNow You save lives not cost them ! Both must happen #ExpandMedicaidNow will provide access to Healthcare for all who need it and Can not afford it ! Raising the wage will provide relief finacially ! Both must happen and both together could go a long way America !

My Friends This month I celebrate an Unhappy Anniversary ! It was 30 years ago this time I became Uninsured ! I suffered an Asthma Attack at age 16, and they dropped me from my Family’s policy ! Saying it was a Pre Existing Condition and it was not ! Ever since I have been Uninsured relying on Friends, Family, and Charity for my Medical needs !  And I am Sick of It ! I want to be Insured #ExpandMedicaidNow Allready !

You see now Thanks to President Obama (D) who got us the ACA (AFFORDABLE CARE ACT) (OBAMACARE) .With help From U.S. Speaker of The House (D) Nancy Pelosi ,and U.S. Senate Leader Harry Reid (D) ,  Insurance companies can no longer discriminate over Pre Existing Conditions ! This also is the case with The SCHIP (STATE CHILDRENS HEALTH INITIATIVE PROGRAM) championed by Former U.S. Secratary of State, U.S. Senator from NY, First Lady,  and Current Presidential candidate (D) Hillary Clinton.  This too covers sick kids ! I wish I had it then. This was also championed by #SinglePayer advocate, Presidential candidate and U.S. Sen Bernie Sanders (D) Vt. And The late U.S. Sen Ted Kennedy (D) Ma. Thank you to All !

But We had a chance in Fl to #ExpandMedicaidNow and #CloseTheGap ! We had a BiPartisan Plan (A Healthy Florida). Authored by Fl Sen Andy Gardner (R) Orlando. But Fl House Speaker (R) Steve Crissifulli Merritt Island killed it ! FL Governor Rick Scott (R) demonstrated willful indifference to it ! Leaving Myself and 1 Million others in Fl in Healthcare limbo !

After 30 years of this I am sick of it period ! Sick of seeing hard working peoole like Charlene Dill die young ! Sick of seeing my Friends Amy Rodriguez and Gen Rodriquez beg for care ! Or use home over 4he counter  remedies to stay alive ! You see Gen needs $10,000.00 worth of Medicine for Respiratory Illneses to stay alive ! Without Insurance its impossible to afford ! I too am sick of begging for care !

But We are not alone as Clinics and Hospitals due to budget issues may close. Clinics in Fl had a budget of $9 Million now of $4.5 milliin yet to be approved.  LIP (LOW INCOME POOL) Funds (HOSPITAL CHARITY CARE) Funds dropped from $  1 Billion Dollars to $600 Million Dollars ! Too much ground to be made up ! Leaving We The Uninsured in Limbo Facing Death Needlessly !

It is just disgusting to live this way ! When Insured You take your card out and worry about getting well ! We The Uninsured go through this process :
1. Go to Emergency Room and Beg for Care
2. Worry about Getting Well
3. Worry about Paying The Hospital, Doctors, Ambulance,  and other Medical Bills !
4. Have to Fight For Hospital Charity ! Some may not qualify or offer it ! 5. Face Bankruptcy from Debt !

I am sick of the indifference of Gov Scott ! We ask little I really hoped when the ACA became law I would be a participant in it ! Not a bystander begging for it ! Yesterday I talked to A Cornell University Professor about this. She like many, when I tell them was surpised by how long I have been Uninsured ! And It is too long !

My Friends today I am going to discuss The #ZikaVirus and its affects on an invisible population. The Invisible population is We The Uninsured in Fl. Currently 5 Counties in Florida are under Public Health Emergency.
The #ZikaVirus is a mosquito born virus. It originated in South America. The Virus can be transmitted by mosquito bite and  Sexually also. So please be responsible and use a condom. It travels through the blood stream.
The harm of this virus is it causes BIRTH DEFECTS in Pregnant Women. So This is another good reason to #ExpandMedicaidNow. So all have access to Doctors !

Diseases like this are public health nightmares waiting to happen ! Especially with the poor, sick, and Uninsured ! .

For Example We got lucky with SARS, BIRD FLU, and Ebola ! But next time maybe not so ! In the early 1900’s Typhoid struck*** ! It was spread by an actual person Mary Mallon – WHO WOULD Become “TYPHOID MARY”  an Irish immigrant cook who killed 51 people .

But now we the Uninsured face exposure to super viruses that could. wipe us out !
We deserve access to Doctors not just Emergency Rooms ! But Governors like mne Rick Scott (R) Fl continue to ignore the problem .**It  is so bad in fact funding for Free Clinics was cut from $9 Million Dollars to $4.5 Million Dollars ! In Our State Budget ! **Seource Miami Hearld Sun Feb 21,2016 Micheal Auslen.

So What does Gov Scott and like minded people want we the Uninsured and sick to do ? We may not have Free Clinics or County ones to go to ! This due to cuts in LIP LOW INCOME POOL FUNDS.  THE LIP funds are for Hospitals, and Clinics to treat the Uninsured ! But if both close and a disease outbreak happens then what ? I will Tell you what ! Deaths by the thousands then millions ! On whose hands will it be ? Of Course Gov Scott who takes lessons in penny pinching, from Gov Rick Snyder (R) of Michigan.  The Political Typhoid Mary !  Is Gov Snyder a man who knowingly to save money poisoned his own people. He allowed The City of Flint Mi, to use Polluted Tap water with lead in it ! Thus causing deaths and birth defects to innocent people ! Gov Snyder did #ExpandMedicaidNow and his people need it ! Unlike Gov Scott sitting on his hands doing nothing !

Causing people like myself ,Amy ,and Gen Rodriquez to beg and borrow to stay alive. As we have no Healthcare at all. Gen needs $10,000.00 a month worth of Respiratory  Medicines. She can’t get them and is using over the counter remedies. The reason we live this way is our Governor Rick Scott (R) willfully refuses to #ExpandMedicaidNow ! Leaving 1 Million in Fl at risk !

So if a major disease outbreak occurs ,that can not be controlled then what ? No Hospitals, or Clinics then what ? I will tell you what Death for many ! The Typhoid Mary’s will be Gov Scott and others like him ! People living in ignorance to reality !  Yes Gov Scott you are the Modern Typhoid Mary ! A Tag I wouldn’t want !

But We can do something We must #ExpandMedicaidNow to save lives ! Then we have a fighting chance against outbreaks ! It is  simple preventative Medicine  just #ExpandMedicaidNow !

My Friends I have a question for you today.  Is access to Healthcare A Civil Rights, or Human Rights Issue. The reason I ask this is : We The Uninsured in America Face this. We have a problem that is Not going away ! We sit in Limbo waiting for the next shoe to drop. We have limited or no access to Doctors in many cases . The reason is we do not have enough money to pay for Healthcare. We Should have been insured by now When Medicaid Expansion was added to the ACA ! But no WE THE UNINSURED ARE STILL WAITING ! Waiting Sick, Suffering, and dying ! 3 Million of us in 18 States who refused to #ExpandMedicaidNow !

Our Governors in these states decided to use lame excuses not to #ExpandMedicaidNow ! Such as  : Fears of Federal Matching Funds not being there.,Or Taxes going up !  Stupid excuses when the reality is a Dislike of President Obama ! Yes this dislike is causing people to suffer.

Because of this Public Hospitals are closing and will continue to close at alarming rates. Not just the Uninsured need A Hospital we all do ! Public Hospitals are the safety net for the poor also. As it it is their primary seource for Healthcare. As they have no access to Primary care. 

So We face potential Public Health nightmare scenarios :
1. What if A Situation Like #FlintWaterCrisis, in Flint Michigan happens in a State that has no Medicaid Expansion ?
2. What if the Yukka Virious or any infectious disease Spreads ?
A : You have a Public Health Disater with many kids dying or disabled. Or Adults sick and dying needlessly ! 

This is not a game anymore ! We got lucky with SARS, BIRD FLU, AND EBOLA. But next time maybe not so.

This lack of access to Healthcare Is A Civil Rights and Human Rights Issue. If services are not provided to all what is it ? A case of Discrimination.  Not just by race but econmoic as well ! Many of the Uninsured are minorites or disabled ! And being such have rights guaranteed to them that in this case are ignored ! As a Disabled adult I have a right to reasonable accommodation. This is  in everyting but Healthcare in my state of Fl.  Which refuses to #ExpandMedicaidNow ! So is blocking access to services like Healthcare, like blocking acess to Voting Rights ? This makes it a Civil Rights issue. As not all have access to Medical Care !

It also is a Human Rights Issue, due to people’s abilaty to be able to access medical care.

My inspiration as an Activist was Dr Martin Luther King Jr.  I know he would not be silent on this issue ! He would be appalled after hearing the story of 21 yr old Gen Rodriguez rating life saving Respiratory Medicine . The reason she does this is : She is Uninsured,  and it cosrs $10,000.00 per month to keep her alive with proper medicines ! 

To me the Governors and Legislatures who refuse to #ExpandMedicaidNow are acting like Gov. Wallace at the School ! He was blocking access then ! And My Governor Rick Scott is doing the same thing now – Only with Heathcare. Leaving 1 Million Uninsured Stranded !

So I Close my friends with a few Questions
1. Is This A Civil Rights Violation ?
2. Is This A Human Rights Violation ?
3. What are you going to do about it ?
4. Will You Fight to #ExpandMedicaidNow ?
5. Or will your silence and inaction continue to kill many more of the sick !

My Friends I have been thinking alot about Our Nation. As I Pay attention to The 2016 Presidential Race !  One concerm is an overzealous hawkish love of War. War as we know brings death and heartache . For both families of the deceased and the living, ie the wounded.

Do many of you realize not all veterans are in the VA ? Do you realize many live in poverty ? What happens to those who survive a war but are physically or psycologically wounded from it ? Many are not under VA care but fall into the Medicaid Gap. Leaving them suffering in pain and silence ! No way to treat those who sacrifice for ALL OF US !

But yet the zealots want war not peace ! Meanwhile the veterans suffer uninsured along with 3 Million others ! Victims of a political game called iNHIMANITY ! Inhumanity causimg 21 yr old Gen Rodriguez to beg for help with life saving respiratory medicines costing $10,000.00 Per month ! Most people DO NOT HAVE $10,000.00 to shell out on Medicines ! It Actually is killing people. In a way the same people who support war, have a declared a war on the Uninsured too !

Therefore If We can go to War…..WE MUST #ExpandMedicaidNow America !  No reason on earth to continue this inhumane Civil ,or Human Rights Violation. People deserve the dignity of living not dying ! There is an excuse being perpetrated that Funds to #ExpandMedicaidNow will disappear causing states to go bankrupt ! Myth Not Fact ! But yet suddely the money appears to fund war ? Sounds like Fishy Math, with invisible ink if you ask me. So if  We can ask people to Die to keep Us Free……The least we can do is Insure All in America and #ExpandMedicaidNow

My Friends lately there has been alot of discussion about the direction and  future of Healthcare in America. As an Uninsured Activist IT’S TIME ….That I weigh in ! Myself as an Uninsured person I  I have given some thought to what I think should happen. !

We must Start by #ExpandMedicaidNow this is my personal mission ! I will not rest until All Are Insured in America ! This means the 18 States must Expand Medicaid to needy people like Gen Rodriguez my friend of Miami Fl. Gen needs $10,000 Worth of Medicines just to Breathe and live ! There are 3 Million Still Uninsured in America ! It will help 1 Million people in Fl alone including Gen’s mom Amy who is also Uninsured !

My Plan As Follows.: Part. 1 : Medicaid Expansion !
Part 2: The Continuing of Medicare for our Disabled and Seniors !
Part 3 : The Expansion of VA Healthcare. To Universal care where with a card A Veteran can get treatment at a Local Hospital, Doctors office and VA would reimburse it.

Too many Veterans are not getting the quality of care they need and deserve. I learned of this plight from my friend Nekole Mz Divah Dee . Herself an Army Veteran, and Tireless Veterans Activst ! The plan I have will enable Vets to get access to Vital Services at home rather than travel to a VA hospital.

Part 4 : The Requirement that people making over $100,000 buy insurance. Too many struggle now with the ACA. People making less would be in a Federal Medicare Public Option Plan. Where you would pay your normal Medicare premiums and get Healthcare.
If You make above $100,000.00 YOU CAN AFFORD YOUR OWN HEALTHCARE ! This plan does not subsidize the rich but those needing it ! Payment would be on a sliding scale based on Income and Family size.

Part 5 : Add Dental, Optical, and Auditory ‘ Hearing Aids to All Programs listed above ! Many Seniors can not afford hearing aids !
Part 6: Early Screenings  prevention and  treatment for children witn Add LD Autism and Physical Disabilaties until age 21 !  Plus Mental Heath Treatents also ! Too many suffer in silence and some cause pain for others by not getting treatment ! This would stop that !
Part 7: Mandate : All Medical Providers with Medical Licence Professional Licence Accept All Public and Private Insurances ! This will provide access to All Specialists saving lives !

This Plan is a MUST NEEDED BLUE PRINT ! Heathcare shouldn’t be about Democrats, Republicans,  Liberals, Conservatives. It should not be A Political Issue, but A Human Rights one ! I hope some will take my plan and present it to Our Elected officials ! I Do not care if you call it FreddieCare, FredCare ,or ChristianCare ! My only care is All Are Insured Period !
