My Friends Today i am going to weigh in as an Uninsured Disabled Advocate on Healthcare.  As you All know I am Uninsured and have been over 30 Years Now !! I Want Healthcare desperately Not just for myself but for All Americans. No one should suffer this indignity. That is why I do this. 

U.S. Rep Jason Chaffez (R) Utah has No Clue about the Sick and Poor !! Saying 

“AMERICANS WILL HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN AN I-PHONE or Healthcare ”

Just disgusting for An elected official to say that. Well Rep Chaffez i have a phone an old one am using it right now to write this.As i am too poor to afford a Computer. So Your argument Failed with me and other poor and sick people !! Yes We have phones – not New Ones !! But We deserve dignity.  Part of that is access to Affordable Quality Healthcare. 

The #ACA Affordable Care Act does just that !!  It has saved over 30 Million Uninsured by making them Insured. But Under The #TrumpRyanCare Plan WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU 

FOR EXAMPLE :

IF YOU HAVE A PREXISTING CONDITION -IT MAY NOT BE COVERED

IF YOU LIVE IN A STATE THAT DID TAKE FEDERAL MATCHING FUNDS TO EXPAND MEDICAID. YOU MAY SEE THAT BENEFIT GET CUT OR SLASHED . Slashed to make it useless

When that happens Our Elderly will be Homeless and Go Without Medicine.  They will be Homeless due to cost.  They can’t afford it . Or Nursing Homes ALF (Assisted Living Facilities) Closing as No Revenue from Medicaid.  Thus also creating Unemployment by Healthcare Workers.

My Friends I Am  Angry Today after I saw a Commercial on TV calling Sick  People :”System Gainers” We Are Not That We just need help. I Pictured myself (Abovez) and Amy Rodriguez (Above) to Ilustrate Who Will Lose When Cuts Happen !  Because We are sick . And  Disabled We Require more help and tbat comes many times from The Local, State, and Federal Government ! In our case as sick people It comes in the Form of #Medicaid #Medicare #TheACA The Affordable Care Act #ObamaCare 

All of Which are Under Seige by President Trump (R) and U.S. House Speaker Ryan (R) . Which is why We now as Sick People are being called : “System Gainers” , and “FreeLoaders” !  Just Disgusting to Pick on The Sick and Poor ! We Are A Better People Than That America ! 

How Did We Get Here and What is Next ? 

First The Affordable Care Act #ACA #ObamaCare Is Under Attack by those listed above. With #Repeal and #Replace ?

30 Million People who Were Previously Uninsured Due to PreExisting Health Conditions. Finally Got Access to Quality Affordable Healthcare and it Saved Lives !

KS, MO, ME, OK, NE  ID are the ones witn tne bulk of the Uninsured in America. ! Thus the # #CloseTheGap For those who fall into the Medicaid Gap in Florida. The most recent was on #Immigration and it obviously rattled #MiamiDadeCounty #Mayor #CarlosGimenez  (R) A Trump Supporter and Who refused to Let Immigrants use his County as a Sanctuary.  He sided with President Trump and is rounding up illegal immigrants daily. Yet the irony Mayor Carlos Gimenez is A CUBAN Immigrant himself. 

But Mayor Carlos Gimenez Took offence to Protests outside his office. He Threatened to Jail The Protesters.  But U.S.Rep Keith Ellison (D) Who was with them stopped this. But  Mayor Gimenez kept it up Defaming Local Activist / Organizer Tomas Kennedy himself An Immigrant with a TV radio smear campaign.  The sheer hypocrisy of Carlos Gimenez knows no bounds.  

But Tomas Kennedy set a Great example how to make a point when protesting.He did so calmly and intellegently. This is the idea. Use of Peace and Intelligence. 

The reason is the GOP is now Fearing and rumor mongering that people may become Violent when ACA cuts happen.  So My Request to All is to Keep Calm and Keep Fighting. #Intellegence and #Peaceful Protest are Our Answer !! MY Friends i Write Blogs and Advocate to Raise Awareness.  I am Called to Do it. I Love to help others. It gives me great pleasure.  I even advocate for myself as an Uninsured person who is Disabled.  

But Now I Really Do Need All of Your Help and Prayers. Two weeks ago I was Denied My SSI disability by A Judge . Yes i have A Lawyer . Not Sure about An Appeal Yet.i want to and will IF POSSIBLE.  

But Now i Am Faced with No Income, No Healthcare and Medicine Costs of $86.00 For 30 Pills Generic. This is A Triple Whammy !! 

The Judge Failed to Recognize Two Recommendations by Psychologists For Disability.  Plus An Eye exam 

My point being No Matter Who Is In Congress or THE WHITE HOUSE things must change Fast ! My Family Can Not Afford to Wait more Years to Appeal. The System with Disability Is Broken . Happened Since Reagan and Getting Worse. No Reason For A Judge to decide Your Fate !! Isn’t A  Doctors Recomendation Enough ?? It Used to be !! Not Everyone Is A Fraud !! I Am Not !! 

My Job Prospects Are Bleak maybe Grocery bagger again If They Can Hire Me. But will i make enough money to survive.  Probably Not  ! As it is a PART PART TIME POSITION.

My Friends Today We again advocate to #ProtectOurCare.  But i want to show how Wrong and Inhumane This Congress is Repealing (ObamaCare )The ACA Affordable Care Act. Plus Cutting Medicaid Medicare and Planned parenthood.  
I begin this with a Disclaimer.  THIS BLOG USES DR .JONAS SALK AS A Reference Point. THIS BLOG IS NOT PRO OR ANTI VACCINES.  

Ok now that we are clear on this lets begin. In the 1950’s Dr Jonas Salk wanted to Heal the sick.He Invented A Vaccine To Cure POLIO . A deadly Virus that if You Lived You may Not be able to walk. **SEE PRESIDENT FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT as an example. Or left you unable to Breathe and in An Iron Lung.  A huge confining. machine. 

This bothered Dr Salk and He cured POLIO . Not only that but he took No Royalties from his Vaccine. Deciding it was more humane to heal than be greedy. 

Unlike U.S.. House Speaker Paul Ryan President Elect Donald Trump and other Fools who Do Not want Government to Provide its Citizens with access to Affordable Quality Healthcare  

They prefer Backing the Greed of Martin Shkrelli and others in Big Pharma.  Their attitude is If You can’t Afford it Well too bad. Say Goodbye to Protecting you with A Prexisting Condition. Say Goodbye to Your Hospitals and Affordable Medicines.  Because when the cuts happen this IS YOUR REALITY AMERICA  !!

My Friends I am Back and with A Purpose ! Yes I am going to Continue to Advocate to #ExpandMedicaidNow.  But Now this purpose gets Bigger. 

You see with Potential Changes to The Existing Healthcare Structure. I am Talking about Cuts to #Medicare #Medicaid and Maybe No More  of #TheACA.  (OBAMACARE) .These changes will Destroy Lives and Communities. 

How You May Ask ? Well let Me Explain It To You.

First When The #ACA  (Affordable Care Act) (OBAMACARE) came into existence it was created as a. Support Mechanism For #Medicaid and #Medicare.  This  a Funding Split among them to keep Costs Low. If You CUT OR GUT #TheACA Medicaid Medicare Costs go Up.

Second : Cuts to The #ACA leave potentially 30 Million People who are Insured Uninsured again.In addition to the 8 Million Uninsured in 19 States Who Refused to #ExpandMedicaidNow.   Thus Creating an #Impact of More Deaths. Because of Inability to afford Medical Care and Purchase Medicines. 

Third : Cuts to #Medicare and Part D And #Medicaid leave our Elderly and Disabled :  to suffer sick and in Poverty needlessly.  The proposed Voucher System Can Not Cover All or Enough of an Individual ‘s Medical Expenses. Thus Our Elderly populations Face Higher Death Risk.Because Not Only Will The Elderly Not afford access to A Doctor.  But Many Can not currently afford their Medicines Right Now. And With Vouchers its Impossible to Find Affordable Medicines.  .Thus again putting Our Elderly and Disabled at risk. Plus those suffering From Mental Health Issues as Well. 

Fourth : The #ACA was created to save money and by #ExpandMedicaidNow all would have healthcare.  Thus lowering expenses.  For both The Federal Government and Its Citizens. By Cutting it you not only ReCreate An Uninsured Population of 40 Million People.  But also Raise Costs

Fifth : Many Hospitals Will Close due to No Patient Payment.  No Medicare, Medicaid ,ACA , Or Hospital Charity .This is How Hospitals are Mostly Funded and Survive. By these 3 Programs. Thus Creating Unemployment For Medical Workers also. 

So You Ask What Can I Do to Stop. This ? Four  Steps : 

1. Get Involved in Your  Community By Calling, Visiting and Writing All Elected Officials.  At All Levels :  Local, State, and Federal Level.  As All will and Must be involved as this is A Huge Problem.  

2. Contact Media Print Radio TV. Write Letters to The Editor. 

3.Take To Social Media.  Facebook Twitter YouTube and Share Information on this. Use the # #ProtectOurCare when talking about it.  

4. Join and Support Coalitions on This.

So My Friends Its Not Just We The Uninsured who suffer Now.Myself and Amy Rodriguez  (Both Pictured Below ) Tirelessly Advocate on This. And Really We Don’t Want Anyone Else to Suffer  like We Do. If Changes are made to the current. System some of You may too. Or Someone You know. The Choice Is Yours America To #ProtectOurCare ! Or Do nothing and let people suffer.

My Friends We are entering a New Era in Government and in Advocacy in America.  Things must change and soon. Too many are being left behind.I see this in South Florida where i Live BIG TIME

For Instance in Miami Dade County and In  Tbe City of Miami it is Very Obvious. You have a Mix of High Rise Condominium Buildings being built daily. While you have Poor Urban Neighborhoods Falling apart. Its called Rich and Poor Big Time. With a Shrinking Middle Class. 

So Like Our Nation South Florida is a Mirror of it. The Problems Of Poverty: Stagnant Wages, Poor or No Healthcare Options, A Hyper-Expensive Price Of Rents. Plus Violent Crime with our Youth These are The Problems plaquing The South Florida Community. And Ironically Our Nation too.

So Due to No Results From Washington D.C. ,Tallahassee Fl, and Our Local Government.  They All Sit, Talk and Fail to Act or Willfully Ignore The Problems.Yes Problems That Are Not Going Away Any Time Soon. Or Sit on Their hands playing petty political games like Governor Scott with Medicaid Expansion.  He refused to #ExpandMedicaidNow for 1 Million Uninsured in Fl.  One of Whom Genesis Rodriguez Desperately needs it. 

So In Comes A Small dedicated group. A Radio Personality and Performer Mr Franky Faze. A Tireless Warrior Mom and  Advocate Mariamee Amy Rodriguez – ( Mother of Genesis Rodriguez ) And A Disabled Advocate For Healthcare, Public Safety, Fair Wages, Civil and Human Rights on Social Media :  Myself Fred Christian Founder of #ExpandMedicaidNow #Impact on Facebook and Twitter. 

We are Tired of Build Baby Build by #MiamiDade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez. Who Favors The Rich. This mentality has spread to Washington D.C. We are sick of it. We are sick of seeing People Suffering and dying without Healthcare.  Our Workers work hard for little pay. The poor live in Sub Standard or Over Priced Housing. Our Youth dying by the gun. or leaving due to lack of Jobs.!  

Our Diverse Group came together to Solve problems.  We aim to be #Community First. And show how our problems : Can, Will ,and Must Be Solved And Soon  ! Thus the Name #FixMiami a Project Work Group aimed a Fixing Local, State, and Federal Government problems. Like Hospitals Closing due to No Funds. Or Companies leaving for cheaper workers .

My Friends Our Nation is Going through some major changes now . The reason The Trump Presidency to be. Many Changes will happen. Changes that will affect All Our Lives.Changes in Health Care Income and The Environment Will happen. And They May Be Devastating to The Poor and Vulnerable. But Today i Come to you to inspire You. To Not Cave but to Fight The Good Fight. I Hope to Inspire You With A Story- My Story on becoming an Advocate or As some say Activist. I have been called both. i now prefer Advocate. Because i advocate for Causes on Social Media.

My Advocacy Journey began in 1986 when i got sick with Asthma.i didn’t protest but suffered in Silence Uninsured. I had Hope One day i would have Healthcare. I made A Promise to myself that i would help All to be Insured someday. That happened in the 1990’s after Healthcare Failed. As A College student a few years earlier i did papers on Civil Rights. This would play A Role in My Journey later on. As Would My Faith in God. I am A Christian.

I wasn’t active in any cause. But i did Vote. But in 2010 Things Changed for Me I was frustrated with the direction of the City i was living in Ocala Fl. So i wrote letters to the local Newspaper : The Ocala Star Banner. Then the ACA Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) Passed. I was elated. As i started before in My Blog My Healthcare Journey i am disabled and needed answers for an Eye Problem. I had no job and had a hard time geting one. i was taking care of My Disabled Father. I wrote President Obama for help. We Relocated From Ocala Fl to Miami Gardens Fl. I went to Vocational Rehabilitation. Saw an Eye Doctor and Psychological Evaluation was done. Plus another Psychological Evaluation by Nova Southeastern University. Both said see a Neuro Opthamologist. At Bascom Palmer Eye Institute – Miami Fl.i needed to find a job.

It was recommended i use a Computer i had no Computer..I was also told to Use Facebook to get a job.Soon I got a Tablet and later a Phone. Both from Samsung. I was a skeptic of Social Media.I believed alot of the bad misconceptions, without ever using it. But boy would i see how WRONG I WAS and that , it can change lives. Particularly my life. So in 2013 I joined Facebook and then Twitter. I couldn’t work because of My eye problem. But I learned Facebook and Twitter well. This would help me later on.

I got sick and couldn’t talk for 2 weeks. It sucked. But it motivated me to Fight for Healthcare if needed. As Florida did not #ExpandMedicaidNow. I was tweeting and Posting the Ed Show on MSNBC. I voiced My Displeasure with Local Issues.Miami Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez was a frequent person of my criticism. He Closed Fire Houses and Closed Libraries to save money.

In August of 2013 I watched The 50Th Anniversary of The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “I Have A Dream” Speech. They asked :” What Will You Do To Advance the Dream ? ”

i said via Twitter : I Would Be A Voice For The Voiceless.

My Dedication to #CivilRights hy .Having MLK as One of My Hero’s Who would Inspire Me To Also Hear The Call To Serve. As I Believe Across To Healthcare is Both A Civil Rights and Human Rights Issue.

That Weekend in Church The Pastor on Our Video Screen said He wanted Christians in Government. i felt the Call to Serve.i always wanted to help others. Soon My Chance would come. I got home opened My Email. Got a Petition from Move on. i got my Chance to Fight For Healthcare.

My Goal for the Petition was 1 Million Signers to Represent The 1 Million Uninsured in Fl. But it wouldn’t be easy.I almost quit as i got 19 Signers in 1 month. I was a novice boy did i have alot to learn.

Good did happen i started my First Facebook page : Please Sign My Petition to help Expand Medicaid in Fl. Then with my @FredChristian3 Twitter account i Got A Tweet on TV on The EdShow. :

“My Governor Could Care Less If I Get Healthcare ”

i was elated and would get several Tweets and Posts on Air till the shows cancellation in 2015. Thank you Ed Schulz I appreciate it. I wish you would have interviewed me though on being Uninsured in Fl.. But I did get interviewed by Patricia Bourns of The Miami Herald. I was pleased and Share the article to this day. Thank you Ms Bourns you helped alot.

But the Petition was stalled at 20 Signers i was going to quit.I was so frustrated i locked Myself out of My Twitter acct.and I. was going nowhere with this. But then I joined Facebook Groups. A msn named Barry Sensa and His Friend Robin Conrad became mentors to me. Thank You Both I appreciate it. We All Championed the cause of Medicaid Expansion. Soon I got signers.We Founded The Page People Suffering due to republicans refusal to expand Medicaid. I got another small Victory too i created a new Twitter account @FredChristian10 which i use today. Plus that March I Finally got the courage to Post a Personal Post to Facebook. It would be My Healthcare Journey which would later become My Healthcare Journey Pre and Post Petition The Blog.I wrore other Posts that year. i Love to Write, and Talk and later on Those skills would come in handy.

But Soon I needed a new direction and Founded #ExpandMedicaidNow First as A # to Use on edshow, and Twitter.Then it became a Facebook page and group. My First page failed but i was determined not to let this one fail. I couldn’t fail i had to.be the Voice For The Voiceless on #ExpandMedicaidNow. The petition stalled again. One Group member threatened to kill me if I posted it. I almost quit. But a talented Facebook artist talked me out of it. I even Got Trolled by Gun Nuts for helping Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America over Open Carry in Target Stores. I was angry and No Way was i quitting !

I even did a Medicaid Expansion event on Facebook. We did get noticed by Facebook. Soon i eneded My Petition with 2,200 Signers in One Year. I was disgusted again but definitely NOT QUITTING !! I Finally was Convinced Social Media Could #Impact Positive Change .
In January 2015 Things got alot better I met a Mom Amy Rodriguez who had a sick Daughter Genesis Rodriguez. Soon Amy would educate me on How to Really Advocate. As i wanted Genesis to Live. Pictured Below Amy Rodriguez Gen Rodriguez.

Soon I was told and realized that good as My Facebook Posts were They didn’t reach enough people. So i became a Blogger and Also created More Facebook pages and groups Issues We Face, Team Blue ,and Random Thoughts The Blog By Disabled Social Media Activist Fred Christian.

i wrote on Amy Rodriguez and Gen Rodriguez to try to help save her life. It was and Is a Labor of Love.

in between Two Friends who are Very Talented Bloggers .Micheal Hoyt and My Fellow edshow member and Mentor Pat Taylor Fuller wrote blogs on me. Both inspired me to Write as they are dedicated to it.

In between helping Amy Rodriguez and Gen Rodriguez I always had a Commitment to #CivilRights So along with my Twitter and Edshow Friends Dennis Mack @littleredblog and Nekole MzDivah Dee @MzDivah67 We Endured DEATH THREATS Taking Out A RACIST. Thank You Dennis and Nekole For Having My Back. We got Coffin Memes it was Sick and Scairy. But We battled and Helped Anonymous take him Off Social Media.

During Easter 2015 I did A YouTube video filmed by My Aunt Carol. It was Part Sermon Part Testimony. It was done at My Friend Andres Carrero Ministry NotForgotten Event For Easterv All on Why God Let me an Ordinary Disabled man do this Extraordinary Cause. The Video Titled : Fred The Prayer Warrior Was a Success. I had a goal of Public Speaking and i felt that if I could actually talk to people in an audience things could change. IT WORKED !!

Soon Edshow eneded and i needed a way to Promote #ExpandMedicaidNow. I am A Man of Faith during A Ride home from Church God told me through Prayers To Blog Then I got the courage to Film myself on YouTube. Then later Facebook Live and Periscope.

But One Day i got A message on Facebook. A Documentary Artist Thresa BrownGold of Art As A Social Inquiry wanted to Paint Me and hear My story. You see her amazing work in the memes with paintings of Myself Amy Rodriguez and Gen Rodriguez. Thresa BrownGold even painted President Obama. This is an Honor to me. I am Blessed and Humbled.Thank you Thresa BrownGold We All Appreciate it and You.

Soon I realized I needed a Team So #ExpandMedicaidNow Team was born. Amy Rodriguez would be Our Co Administrator and Community Liason .Along with Dennis Mack and Nekole MzDivah Dee,Pat Taylor Fuller, Alcinia Hill, Brenda Feliz Fegar, Elvira Ramirez, Genesis Rodriguez, and Angela Brill.

In March of 2016 I was creatively stuck Medicaid Expansion still didn’t happen. We needed a new Direction and again i Prayed. God answered with The Phrase #Impact

Soon An Old Skill Graphic Arts would come in Handy. As i was frustrated I couldn’t do memes. So Soon with Text Art,PosterWrap , and PicsArt I did it. So now i do my own memes too.

My Friends We have a few days left before the election.  But One issue is Not going away.  And If Not Fixed it will kill. The Issue The Ridiculously High Price of Prescription Medications.

We at #ExpandMedicaidNow #Impact have been advocating on this for months. But For Me It hit Home last week. The Pharmacy I Buy one of My Asthma Medicines From. Winn Dixie closed many of its pharmacies recently.  The Medicine is The Generic Version of Singular.  MONTELUKAST SODIUM. .This cost me $15.00 per 30 Tablets. This was affordable.  Now at 3 Competitors  Publix, CVS, Walgreens. It will cost me $133.00 Per 30 Tablets. Being Uninsured i can Not Afford that. Walgrrens had a discount to $77.00 Per 30 Tablets.  Still Way Too High. I went through alot this week on this. I almost had a Heart Attack from the Shock  of the Price. !! The Stress of Being Uninsured is Too Much  !! This is a Burden No One Insured or Not Should have. 

For Example My Friends Amy Rodriguez and her Daughter Gen Rodriguez Gen has only one Functioning Lung and only 25% Of the other.due to Respiratory Illness. She is Uninsured and in the past  Used Claritin and Cough Syrup. The Reason She can’t afford her Medications They Cost her $10,000.00 Per Month.  Her Mom Amy is Uninsured and  suffers too. 

It is Bad Enough to not be able to see a Doctor.  We The Uninsured do this.But to Go Without Medicine too is Horrible.  And An Instant Death Sentence. It is NOT JUST THE UNINSURED FACING THIS. Our Elderly Face this.As  The deductibles. in Their Insurance Plans Will Not Pay or Be Met. 

It is a Scary proposition going without Healthcare but especially without Medicines. You suffer needlessly.  I Personally Am Scaired. To Death.I hope i can Be Blessed with A Miracle and Can pay for my Medicines Long Term.But because of Greed and Selfishness Many suffer including myself.  

For Example in Fl had Gov Scott decided to take Federal Medicaid Expansion Dollars and #CloseTheFlGap and #ExpandMedicaidNow. Amy Gen and Myself Would have access to Affordable Medicines. So would One Milliion others who are Uninsured ! How about our Elderly Should they suffer too ?  Due to Co Pays and Greed on the Part of Big Pharma  ??  

This Is A Moral Outrage and Injustice.  It Can Happen to Anyone at Any Time. Bad Health and Poverty Do Not Discriminate  !! That is why I wrote this today. We must stop the Greed of Big Pharma.  It Is KILLING US NOT Saving Us. We must #ExpandMedicaidNow #CloseTheFlGap and Insure All. And Put A Cap on The Outrageous Prices. Please If You Read this Do Two Things 

1. VOTE OUT CANDIDATES WHO FIGHT AGAINST YOU HAVING ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE AND  MEDICINES. 

2.Please Share this So All Will Know.

My Friends November 8,2016 Is A Huge Day in America.  It is Election Day..We Will be choosing A New President Of The United States Of America.  And We in Florida play a Huge Role in this. 

But There is a Race Locally which is Huge. The Race For Miami Dade County Mayor.  It pits incumbent Mayor Carlos Gimenez against Former Miami Dade County School Board member Raquel Regalado.  

I Support Ms Regalado For County Mayor.  Mayor Gimenez has left us with Failed promises and No Plans.He has tried to cut Public Transit. He did cut Public Safety putting his citizens at risk.

Here are 10 Great Reasons To Vote For Raquel Regalado 

1. She Was Born and Raised herr. That says something.  She could have left after College but chose to stay and help her community. 

2. She Is Active in The Community. She Was a School Board member. She hosts a Public Affairs TV and Radio Program also.

3. She is An Animal Lover.  She Supports Animal Rights and Advocates. And The No Kill Shelter. 

4. Family Oriented She was Born here and Chose to Raise her Family here. Her Parents – Father Mayor Tomas Regalado of Ciry of Miami and Mother Raquel were and are active in The Community.  Raquel Regalado is a Loving Mom who brings that special perspective to Public Service.

***In 2013 Mayor Gimenez Issued Rolling Brownouts Closing Firehouses For 1 day at a Time. Plus Cut Gang Suppression Unit.

6. Committed To The Public Education of Our Youth. As a School Board member She improved Food Quality, and Improved ESE education. 

7.  She Is a Leader see her Twiiter Acct.You see solutions on Public Transit.  Plus she would not have let #ZikaVirus spread.

8. Supports The Arts and Sports Teams.She attends events at The Arsht Center and Marlins Games.

9. She has a Great Public Transit Plan and wants to improve access to it. 

10.Pro Workers Pro #Union and Wants All to be able to Afford To Live in Miami Dade county.  And is Committed to AffordableQuality Housing.
