On Dec 14, 2012, 26 students and educators were killed with an automatic weapon in at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, CT. @repjahanahayes was a teacher near miles away, and says it was because of the inaction by adults to create change, and her inability as a teacher to truly keep her kids safe, that she ran for office. At this years Annual Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence, she gave a passionate speech about how we must hold our elected officials accountable for their lack of action, and how reps like her won’t stop fighting till gun violence is a thing of the past.
