October 2019 Three Construction Workers Anthony Margette Quinyan Wimberly and Jose Ponce Arreola …. Went to Work in The Construction of A Hard Rock Property in New Orleans La. A Few Hours Later The Building Collapsed Leaving The 3 Men Trapped and Sadly Deceased …. Anthony Margette,’s Remains were recovered after A Day ….Yet Quinyan Wimberly and Jose Ponce Arreola bodies Remained For Weeks and Months …. This Was In My Opinion Disgusting….

They Remained like This Until …. A Student At A Local School Complained to His Teacher about A Long Bus Ride to and From School because The Authorities Were Unable to Solve This… And His Teacher Was Not Your Ordinary Teacher …. She Asked Questions and Challenged Her Students to Do The Same….

The Teacher Is Rubia Garcia A Local Decorated Teacher and Community Activist…For Social Justice… Who Uses Her Social Media Platforms to Educate on History and Injustice in America…. So Rubia Went To The Site …..

When Rubia Saw It She Filmed It … Showing A Spot Where Quinyan,’s leg was exposed…. She Met With The Familes and Did Reasearch on Construction Codes ….And If Proper Inspection Happened … Exposing The City Allowed A Building to be built not up to Code … Causing The Floors to Collapse Killing The Men…

So This Started in October with The Collapse…Rubia Posted in February 2020 Pre Pandemic Pre George Floyd Protests … It Went on All Summer … With Rubia in May Getting Arrested to Try to Right This Horrific Wrong by Requesting A Meeting with New Orleans La City Mayor Latoya Cantrell …. Who Up Until This Was Detached and Indifferent in This Writers Opinion to Be Polite… To The Plight of These Poor Families ….. Rubia Did Get Out on Bail And Met With Mayor Cantrell …..

But Still No Progress ….It’s Almost A Year and The Bodies of The Two Deceased Men Jose and Quinyan Stayed in The Building Still … What Kind of City Does This I Ask Still To This Day ? How Inhumane Are They ??

So Rubia Traveled The Nation To Protests After George Floyd’s Death…. Aiding by Cleaning Up and Telling The #HardRock3 Story To All Who Would Listen …

In August 2020 Almost 1 Calendar Year Later….The Bodies of Jose Ponce Arreola and Quinyan Wimberly Were Finally Removed From The Building Collapse by City officials with The Use of Drones and Robots … Giving These Familes The Much Needed Dignity…A Dignity These Men and Their Familes Deserved Since October 2019 ….That Is Why I Call This The Worst Human Rights Violation Ever !! Thanks to The Persistence of A Great Humanitarian and Educatorv Ms Rubia Garcia …. Who Didn’t Rest Until They Came Home….

These Familes Deserve Justice ….Justice From The City of New Orleans and The State of Louisiana…. Justice From The Contractors and Developers In My Opinion…. In My Opinion : These Men Died A Painful Horrific Death …. Compounded By A Bungling Indifferent or Incompetent City Beareacracy … Leaving Them There For 10 Months ….Yes 10 Months … I Ask Who In America Treats People like They Did with Jose and Quinyan ?? No One I know …After This Surfside Fl Happened and I saw it daily As I Live in Miami Gardens Fl….Less than A Month All Human Remains Recovered …. New Orleans Could Have Asked For Help like We Did ….Did They I Ask ?? Or instead Did They Ignore The Problem ….Causing Two Men to Lose Dignity …. So We Ask Now For Civil and Criminal Justice to Happen ….So The Families Have Dignity Decency Answers and Much Needed Closure to This Awful Tradgedy…

Many Seniors and Disabled Need Help Now …..They Face A Lousy Choice To Struggle to Live Independently or Go Into A Nursing or Assisted Living Facility…. The reason is MANY need help with basic care described above …. Offered by Home Care…However Wait Lists Are Too Long and Take Years Sometimes to Get Services Neeeded Immediately…. Communities benefit in Two ways From Home Care…….      Jobs Created By Being An Aide To The Disabled and Elderly …..Plus Money Spent By The Patient and Aides stays in the area ….Plus Family members can care better for them with help for Senior and Disabled Relatives…. Giving Them A Caring Safe Enviormnment in Their Own Homes…. And Many Can Still live independently in Their Own Homes with Help….

A Situation And Choice No One Should Have To Make

Leatha Sherill Bush Is A Loving Mom and Grandmother who has faced and overcome many personal challenges in her life… A Few Years ago She Faced A Situation…..That No Parent and No One Should Ever Go Through…. A Few Days After Christmas A Few Years ago her Son Jack Brown 3rd (Pictured Above)  was shot and injured outside a store in Downtown Miami Fl…. Now Leatha was all ready caring for her daughter Shaquary Washington (both pictured above) who was born with Cerebral Palsy…. It was A Challenge but God Helped Leatha do it…..But Now She had to take care of Two Disabled Children…. She Was Doing Great …..But  Asked For Help As It Was Needed in Her Home to Have Nursing Assistance For Both Jack and Kay Kay…. But Sadly Florida would not help both Jack and Kay Kay to get care at home…. So Sadly She Had to Choose …. Care for both with Little to No Help ….Or Put Kay Kay in A Facility so Jack Could Get Help…. Sadly Kay Kay went into A Facility….. Why because Florida Would not have expanded HCBS Medicaid Services to Do This at Home….Medicaid Would Pay For Care For Kay Kay in A Facility…. However Leatha Heroically cared for Jack until and died less than a year later from his injuries from the shooting…. All The While Visiting Kay Kay  and Being Kay Kay’s Loving Mom That She Is…. Constantly making sure Kay Kay got proper care and was looked after in the Facility…. Sadly This December Kay Kay Died …. in A Hospital….  Her Mom Leatha Wanted Her Home ….. Had Florida Been more Cooperative and Offered more services Leatha would not have been put in that situation….. A Situation No Parent and No One Should Have Been In…. Making A Decision No One Should Ever Make….because of Lack of Services…. Leatha Wants All Who Can be Home to Be Home….. She Is Fighting For This Too…. We Thank Her For It….

Allison Holmes has been caring for her Son JJ.(Both Pictured Above) A Brilliant Young Man who at age 17 having Cerebral Palsy…. Is His Class President….. Allison too needs Help As She is needing help caring for JJ..  At Home…. Allison needs Both Healthcare for herself ….As She is JJ “s Full Time Caregiver….Florida The State They Live in Refuses to Expand Medicaid Leaving Allison among the 1.1 Million Uninsured in Fl.. Medicaid Expansion Not Only would help others get access to Healthcare but provide through HCBS Medicaid Waiver Care for JJ. Which would ease the burden on Allison and Familes like her As She Does It All For JJ… They Are Willing to Ask For Help From Elected Officials and Challenging those who repeatedly refused to Help Them and others in Their situation Going So Far As to Be kicked out of rallies held by opponents of Medicaid Expansion and Expanded HCBS Waiver programs. We Thank Them For This….

My Dad and I

In 2018 My Dad had a horrific leg infection…, Now He Overcame a lot in His lifetime…. He Is 75 Now Having Cerbral Palsy also…. He was able to walk until 16 Years ago when a leg injury left him in A wheelchair From A Torn Achilles Tendon.. with limited mobility… He got the infection and did not receive great medical care where We Were living in SW Florida…. We relocated back to South Florida in early 2019… Because He was not getting well…. I Asked For extra help to Help him and got no where…. I Asked Insurance The State and All I could…. Finally …. I Faced A Bad Choice I needed help to Help him and that was recommended to me…. He temporarily went into A Facility…..He hated the place and wanted out…. The Care there in My Opinion was Awful…. I Am Greatful He Is Home….. He Now gets Home Care…. But He Would have been better off had He gotten it sooner… And The Home Care He Gets Is Much better Than Any Facility Can Provide…. He Is Happy At Home And I Want Him and Others like him to Be Home and Get Care….

My Friends That Is Why The HCBS WAIVER …Is So Important….. No One Should Ever Have to Choose or Be Forced into. Any Facility when Family can Care For Them or With Help They Can Do It Themselves …. The Waiver Opens Doors For The Elderly and Disabled….That The Facilities Coldly and Creully Close…. An Open Door Welcomes and Includes The Elderly and Disabled in The Community…. Which Door America ??? THE OPEN OR CLOSED ONE…. I WANT THE OPEN ONE AND Hope You Do Too…..

Tracy Was A Mom who Who Got A Call No Mom wants to Hear…14 Years Ago…..That Her Son Luis Leon Jr. Was A Victim of Gun Violence…. But Tracy Brown Did Not Sit idly by…. She wanted Answers As to Why This Happened…. She Still Does As The Killers of Her Son Are Still At Large….

So What Did Tracy Brown Do ?? …..She Went Out and Became An Activist on Gun Violence….. Currently She Is The President of Familes Affected By Violence…..A South Florida non profit dedicated to Stopping Gun Violence…. And Helping In The Local Community……

You Can Find Tracy Brown Speaking on Gun Violence In Our Community….. But This Resilliant Lady with A Deep Faith in God Does more than that…. She Is A Presence In Her Community…. When not Speaking on Gun Violence She Is A Seource of Comfort to Other Moms in Her Community Who lost relatives and Children to Gun Violence…… Plus She Gives back Hosting, or Co Sponsoring, And Frequently Is Attending Community Events….. I Met Tracy in 2018 At The March For Our Lives…. March to Stop Gun Violence in Miami Beach Fl…. While There We discussed The Issue of Gun Violence…. I Also was Very Fortunate to Have Tracy Speak Along with Our Friends Leatha Sherill Bush and Susan Bullets Kennedy at An Anti Violence Forum I Hosted in 2019….. Tracy Was A Powerful Speaker… She was well received….
